【学制和学期】

北京外国语大学每学年分春、秋两个学期。

秋季学期是新学年的开始，一般从9月初开始至下一年的1月中旬结束。春季学期一般从2月底开始至7月中旬结束。每学年有寒假和暑假两个假期，暑假通常为两个月（7月、8月）。寒假较短，一般为4周左右，与中国春节假期相连。

【项目简介】

1. 学历教育

申请攻读本科、硕士研究生、博士研究生学历教育项目

（1）本科生学制4年，完成教学方案规定的教学内容，毕业论文通过答辩，可取得毕业证书，符合学士学位规定条件者，授予学位证书。

（2）硕士研究生学制2年或3年，视专业而定。修满学分，完成毕业论文，通过论文答辩，可获毕业证书和硕士学位。

（3）博士研究生学制3年，修满学分，取得一定的科研成绩，完成博士学位论文，通过论文答辩，可获毕业证书和博士学位。

1. 非学历教育

（1）普通进修生课程

普通进修生：学制0.5年至1年，视情况可以申请适当延长学习。按规定进修汉语言或其他专业课程，学习期满并通过考试者后可取得结业证书。

（2）中国语言文学学院汉语言短期进修班课程（寒、暑假期间）

短期进修生：目前只开设汉语言短期进修班。适用于短期内希望到中国游学、体验汉语和中国文化的留学生申请。暑假期间一般安排有8周班、4周班、3周班；寒假期间一般安排有4周班（视每年报名情况而定）。上课时间为每周一至周五，上午讲授汉语，下午讲授中国文化，并安排每周一次北京市内参观游览活动。学生学习结束时将取得北京外国语大学学习证书。

【入学基本条件】

1.年满18周岁；

2.持有效外国普通护照的非中国籍公民；

3.身体健康,品行良好,遵守中国政府法律和学校规章制度,尊重中国人民风俗习惯;

4.依据《中华人民共和国教育法》和《中华人民共和国高等教育法》，为维护我国公平的教育环境，对祖国大陆（内地）、香港、澳门和台湾居民在移民外国后作为外国留学生来我校进入本科阶段学习做出如下补充规定:

申请人必须持有有效的外国护照或国籍证明文件4年（含）以上，且最近4年（截至入学年度的4月30日前）之内有在国外实际居住2年以上的记录（一年中实际在国外居住满9个月可按一年计算，以入境和出境签章为准）。如符合上述要求，申请时需提交：

(1)入籍证明；

(2)注销原中国户籍证明（港澳台居民除外）；

(3)最近4年的出入境签章页复印件（原件备查）；

(4)最近4年的国外学习经历证明。

5.祖国大陆（内地）、香港、澳门和台湾居民移民外国后返回国内接受高中教育并毕业，如未恢复中国国籍，则属于在中国定居的外国侨民，如符合我国普通高校招生工作规定的报名条件，可持其所在省（区、市）公安机关填发的《外侨居留证》，在其所在省（区、市）省级招生委员会指定的地点报名参加我国高等学校招生统一考试。

【申请及录取流程】

1. 申请：学生可在报名期限内（秋季学期一般为4月中旬开始到6月初；春季学期一般为10月中旬开始到次年1月初）登录网上报名系统（http://study.bfsu.edu.cn）进行报名，同时需要上传护照及专业要求相关证书。在此期间，我们会对申请材料进行审阅，及时通知您补齐所需申请材料，并组织必要的考试考核，您可以登录报名系统随时查询申请进度。

2. 录取：如您被录取，学校会发出“录取通知书”“外国留学人员来华签证申请表（JW202表）”“致新同学的一封信”等相关录取材料。自录取完成到相关材料寄出至少需要4-5周的时间。

3. 报到：请您按照录取通知书上规定时间按时到校报到。北京外国语大学会在首都国际机场T3航站楼安排接机（详细接机时间请参考随录取通知书寄出的“致新同学的一封信”）。报到时请携带“录取通知书”“JW202表”原件、8张2寸白色背景证件照。如在本国进行过身体检查，请携带所有体检材料原件。

【关于签证】

请于入境前持“录取通知书”、“外国留学生人员来华签证申请表（JW202/201表）”、“外国人体格检查记录”、“血液化验报告”（均需原件）等，前往中国大使馆（领事馆）申请X1或X2学习类签证来华学习（具体规定请咨询中国大使馆）。

【关于医疗保险】

外国留学生须购买我校指定团体综合保险作为办理新学期入学注册手续的必备材料。学生可于报到前或报到注册当日我校指定的综合保险，参考保费标准：300元/半年；600元/一年。对于未按照要求购买指定保险者，我校将不予办理入学注册手续。

【学费标准】

除特别指明外，学科专业学费标准如下:

备注：短期课程、新建专业学费与上述标准不同者，以相关专业招生简章为准。

学费按照学期或学年一次性交付（非汉语专业学历生学费按学年一次性缴纳）缴纳时按人民币价格收费。如需汇款，请保存好汇款收据，以便报到时核查。未按时足额缴纳学费者不予注册。

【关于住宿】

北京外国语大学拥有不同规格和条件的留学生宿舍供留学生选择。

新生在校第一个学期不接受房间预定，我校可协助学生解决校内床位，房型由学校统一安排，学生到校第二个学期可以由学生本人自由选择房间类型（单人间或双人间）。

宿舍收费标准如下：

如您学习期间不住校内，应提前联系好住宿，选择在社区居住的，应在入住后24小时内由户主陪同到所在地派出所开具临时住宿登记证明。

校外居住学生凭有效临时住宿登记，方可办理入学及签证手续。

【School System and Semesters】

There are two semesters in one academic year in BFSU: Fall semester and Spring semester. Fall semester is the beginning of each school year, usually from early September to mid-January of the next year. Spring semester usually starts from late February to mid-July. In BFSU, there is summer vacation and winter vacation per year. Summer vacation is normally two months (July and August), and winter vacation is about four weeks, with the traditional Chinese Spring Festival holiday included. During summer and winter vacations, BFSU often arranges short-term Chinese language programs.

【Programs Offered】

To study in BFSU, you have the following choices:

1. Degree Program

Degree program covers three levels: Bachelor, Master and Doctor.

(1)Bachelor program lasts four years. Students can get graduation certificate on the condition that they finish all required courses and pass their thesis defense. They will be awarded bachelor degree if they fulfill the course requirements.

(2)The master program lasts two or three years in accordance with the requirements of different majors. Students would study together with Chinese students. They will be given graduation certificate and master degree if they earn credits for all the courses listed in the curriculum for that degree, finish master thesis and pass the thesis defense.

(3)The doctoral program lasts three years. Students can get graduation certificate and doctoral degree if they get required credits, have certain academic and research achievements, finish doctoral dissertation and pass the oral defense.

1. Non-degree program

(1) General visiting student program

General visiting student program lasts half a year to one year. Students can apply to extend their study. They can get course-completion certificate if they finish their Chinese language or other required courses, and pass all the exams within their study period.

(2) Chinese language short-term visiting program in School of Chinese Language and Literature (during summer and winter vacations)

At present only Chinese language short-term visiting program is available. It is suitable for the overseas students who plan to study in China and experience Chinese language and culture within a short period of time. During summer vacation, there are normally 3 types of short-term classes: 8-week class, 4-week class and 3-week class. In winter vocation, there is only one type, 4-week class (The study period is subject to change according to the number of applicants each year). Class time runs from Monday to Friday, with Chinese language class in the morning and Chinese culture class in the afternoon. Every week, there will be a sightseeing tour in Beijing city. Students would be given BFSU overseas student ID card at the start of their class and be awarded BFSU Study Completion Certificate at the end of their study.

【Basic requirements for application】

(1) Applicants should be 18 years of age or older;

(2) Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens who hold valid ordinary passport of a foreign country;

(3) Good health and proper behavior are required. Applicants should also be willing to comply with laws in China and regulations of BFSU, and respect social customs and habits of the Chinese people.

*(4) In line with Jiaowailai [2009] No. 83—Notice issued by Ministry of Education on Standardization of Work about Accepting International Students in China’s Higher Education Institutions: starting from 2010, only those who hold valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality for at least 4 years, and have the record of actual residing in that country for more than 2 years within the last 4 years (up to April 30 of the entrance year) are eligible to apply to study in China. (Please note that living overseas for at least 9 months in one year can be counted as one year, entry-exit signature and stamp to be taken as the final proof). Eligible applicants should submit the following documents:

1. Certificate of naturalization;

2. Cancellation of the original Chinese household registration certificate (except Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents);

3. A copy of entry-exit signature and stamp within the last 4 years (getting the original document ready for future reference);

4. The certificate of overseas study experience for the last 4 years;

*(5) If citizens from the Mainland of China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, having immigrated to foreign countries, have been back to China, graduated from China’s high schools, yet haven’t restored their Chinese nationality, they are deemed foreign nationals living in China. If those citizens are eligible applicants according to application conditions of regular university enrollment in China, they may enter national college entrance examination of China in the location where the admission committee of their province (district/city) appoints, with the presence of the Alien Resident Certificate issued by the public security organs of their province (district/city).

【Application and Admission Procedures】

Application

During the application period (usually mid-April to early June for the fall semester; mid-October to early January of the next year for the spring semester), applicants may log in online application system (http://study.bfsu.edu.cn) to apply. Applicants must upload the passport and other related certificates required by the major they apply. In this period, we would check the application documents, and timely inform applicants of any document failed to be uploaded. Necessary examinations would be arranged. Applicants could inquire application progress anytime by logging in the online application system.

Admission

If the applicant is admitted into the university, we would send him/her “Admission Notice”, “Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form)”, “A Letter to New Students” and other related materials as soon as possible. It would take at least 4-5 weeks from the completion of admission to the sending of the materials.

Registration

Please come to BFSU for registration in the time specified on the admission notice. BFSU would arrange airport pickup at terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport (please find the exact time for pickup in “A Letter to Incoming Students” sent together with the admission notice). Please bring “Admission Notice”, the original “JW202 form” and eight 2-inch certificate photos with white background upon registration. Students who have conducted health examination please bring along all original materials concerned.

【Visa】

Please take “Admission Notice”, “Visa Application for Study in China(JW202/201 form)” “Physical Examination Record for Foreigner” and “Blood Test Report” (all should be original documents) to Chinese Embassy (Consulate) and apply for an X1 or X2 visa to study in China.

【Medical Insurance】

According to the regulation of Chinese Ministry of Education, overseas students who study in China must buy medical insurance in China. Students can buy Comprehensive Insurance for Foreigners Staying in China (accidental injury and hospital medical treatment) offered by PINGAN Insurance Company of China at the registration desk on the registration day. The premium would be 300 Yuan/6 months and 600 Yuan/year. Students who do not have required medical insurance would be refused registration.

【Tuition Fee】

Except when specifically pointed out, tuition fee for each major is shown as follows:

The application fee is not refundable.

Please refer to the Student Recruitment Brochure to pay tuition, if the charging standard for some short-term courses and newly-offered majors is different from the above.

Tuition fee would be charged by semester or school year. Diploma students who do not major in Chinese must pay by school year in RMB. If you want to pay in advance, please transfer money to BFSU’s account. Remember to keep the receipt for the future check. Students would be refused registration in case of failure in timely full payment.

【Accommodation】

BFSU offers different overseas student dormitories to be selected. BFSU tries to help in arranging on-campus dormitory (bed). For new students, BFSU does not accept dormitory reservation for the first semester and will arrange rooms for students. For the second semester, students can choose room types (single room or double room).

Accommodation rates for international students are shown as follows:

Students will enjoy a discount if they pay their accommodation fee by semester.

If the student is not going to live on campus, they should get accommodation in advance and obtain the accommodation certificate issued by the local police station in company with the householder. Registration and visa procedures could only be carried out with the accommodation certificate.
